Valuing youth is a vital part of a healthy community. CM Solutions donates our retired (but still very usable) laptops to Youth First, a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California that mentors at-risk high school students. This ongoing partnership provides needed resources to bridge the digital divide for underestimated students to succeed in school and beyond. In addition to the laptops, the program includes one-on-one training on how to use the devices.

Youth First seeks to value the lives of adolescents in the inner city through relationship, justice, adventure, and laughter. Today, they have over 40 mentors working with 200+ teens living in urban areas of Los Angeles. Mentors are involved in weekly teen meetings around the city with Middle and High School students with a particular focus on supporting teen moms and their children.

The goal is to be there as another adult resource as the students develop. We try to meet kids where they are and walk alongside them in their daily lives. The laptops allow us to dive in on homework, games, social media… all sorts of places that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. ~Dylan Hirsch
